Our beginnings can be traced back to the 1920's when Donald McIntyre began farming 600 acres near Casselton, North Dakota. As the farm prospered, Donald
recognized the need for quality certified seed and built the first of our seed plants in
1966. As our clients and their needs grew--and as the number of seed varieties
exploded--a second seed plant was added in 1975. Soon after this Donald, his
wife Lily, his children Duane and Marlyce, and their spouses Paula and Harvey
formed McIntyre-Pyle Seeds, Inc..

In June of 1990, McIntyre-Pyle Seeds gave way to become the Unity Seed Company when
our two families formed a marketing company for the seed we grow. With this
change we soon became affiliated with
Gold Country Seed
and WestBred "A Unit of Monsanto"
which necessitated the creation of a dealer network to handle our expanding
product line.

In 2006, Monsanto acquired
Gold Country Seed as one of their Regional brands.  Over the last 7 years, we
have had a very good relationship with Monsanto through Gold Country Seed.  We
have benefitted from direct access to the best technology and genetics pipeline
in the world.
This fall, Monsanto is
planning to realign their Regional Brands so that each brand has a unique
geographical footprint.  At that time, Gold Country Seed will become Monsanto’s
only regional brand in southern Minnesota.  REA Hybrids will become the only
regional brand in the Dakota’s and Northern Minnesota.  Therefore, Unity Seed
will become a REA Hybrids dealer.

An additional diversification, which complimented our seed business, was the
addition of Identity Preserved food-grade soybean processing, both domestic and
foreign. This new venture brings an extra marketing opportunity for our seed
customers, and we will continue to look for new opportunities as the business of
agriculture continues to change.
